Title: Manager, Integrated and Emergency Communications

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibility 1 - Team Management
- Actively contribute to orientations that strengthen commitment and encourage action in humanitarian emergency response and community resilience in Quebec and within the Canadian Francophonie.
- Ensure the development of the team's common and individual objectives as well as their implementation and monitoring.
- Play a leadership and facilitator role with team members, ensure the coordination of their priorities and the structuring of tasks.
- Contribute to budget planning and follow up.
- If necessary, assume the interim role of the Director of Communications, according to the delegation identified.
- Assume periods of monitoring traditional and/or social media alternating with other team members outside of work hours.
- Represent the Communications Department and take part in various meetings in Quebec and Canada according to the needs identified by the Executive Director or the Vice-President.
Responsibility 2 - Integrated Communication
- Define proactive and reactive integrated communications strategies in support of the Red Cross' strategic and operational priorities in Quebec and within the Canadian Francophonie, lead their implementation and evaluate their impacts.
- Ensure that all communication channels (traditional, print, digital, social, etc.) are explored and used optimally.
- Ensure that communication strategies, messages and tactics support the organization's vision, national and Quebec communications plans, and maintain or strengthen the organization's image and reputation.
- Act as a strategic communications advisor to members of the Quebec management team, in particular to promote the added value of communications and increase organizational capacity in strategic communications in Quebec.
- Generate engagement from employees and volunteers in the Communications Department, communicate the vision of the Communications Department, and collaborate with other teams to rally employees and volunteers around the organization.
- Guide, structure, write, review and publish communication content, as required.
Responsibility 3 - Emergency Response Communication
- Acting as an alter-ego with the Director as the Communications Lead with the Provincial Disaster Coordination Team (PSCT) during province-wide emergency response: Assisting in the development and dissemination of call messages and other communication tools to disseminate accurate information to the public in a timely manner.
- Provide strategic communications advice and support to the Provincial Emergency Response Operations team with respect to communications requirements, as required, including all aspects of reactive and proactive media relations.
- In collaboration with the Senior Director, Operations, provide on-site or remote emergency operations support related to crisis management, content collection, high-level field visits, communications training, and media relations, as required.
Profile sought:
- University degree in communications, marketing, public relations or a related field.
- Minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience in developing and implementing integrated communications strategies through a variety of channels; Specific experience in social media management, media relations, crisis or emergency communication, and content creation.
- Minimum of two years of experience in employee management and a general knowledge of HR processes, team and individual performance management, coaching and budget management.
- Experience in coordinating projects and initiatives (project coordination, managing schedules and deliverables, structuring tasks and follow-ups).
- Excellent understanding of digital ecosystems and content strategies.
- Very good command of the principles of writing and storytelling.
- Understanding and experience with process management from a practical perspective (prioritizing what is feasible and planning for what can be done in the future).
- Willingness and availability to travel to significant emergency response sites as required.
- Knowledge of humanitarian, public and philanthropic issues.
- Bilingualism (French/English) with an excellent command of French both orally and in writing.
