We are looking for a Communications Associate to join our team. The successful candidate is well-rounded, detail-oriented, organized, and has excellent writing skills and time management. They need to understand marketing techniques and be up-to-date with communications best practices.

Support the Communications Manager with the following responsibilities:

  • Creation of ad-hoc design work: ads for events and conferences, zoom backgrounds, logos, presentation decks, etc.;
  • Coordinate the production of monthly internal and external content delivered in multiple formats, including via email, online, video, or print distribution;
  • Support social media management and campaigns to engage with and grow our followers across all channels;
  • Source and manage marketing-related inventory, communications tools (Affinity, Mention, Vidyard, YouTube, etc.)
  • Manage websites: updates, improvements, and maintenance for sagard.com and portagevc.com; as well as other websites;
  • Manage freelancers and vendors in press relations, design, translation, media production, etc.;
  • Research trends and new marketing opportunities;
  • Maintain an intranet-type platform creation (probably on Notion);
  • Write content in French and English for different initiatives (internal and external);
  • Support the events team by helping with registration and production;
  • Implement Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices across our websites and content;
  • Manage our media monitoring platform for keywords (and refresh them regularly), set up our competitors and what’s happening on the market;

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate comes from a startup/VC comms background;
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills in English and French;
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications or equivalent experience in startups or venture capital ;1-2 years of experience in content management, creative writing, advertising concepts andmedia  negotiations;
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities;
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret competitor strategies ;
  • Proficiency in Content Management Systems (CMS) – we use WordPress;
  • Proficiency with Canva, Figma, Typeform, Mailchimp;
  • Ability to gather data and convert it into meaningful analysis;
  • Solid organizational skills and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
  • Design skills and creative mind;
  • Ability to simplify complex information into a user-friendly format;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and web editing ;
  • Experience in fintech or private asset management is a plus.
