Objectives:
- Develop the Englishlanguage sales in Canada according to annual targets for all networks (Costco, independent, Indigo, etc.)
- Ensure high quality production and adherence to delivery and marketing deadlines
- Establish a coordinated program with the Auzou Québec catalogue and the Auzou general catalogue.
About the role:
Under the supervision of the Editorial manager of Auzou Canada, you’ll be responsible for:
1) Elaboration of the editorial program for the English market
In collaboration with the editorial manager of Auzou Québec and the editorial manager of Auzou, lead and consolidate an editorial program by integrating sales histories and numerical analyses and listening to feedback from the clients, and by conducting store checks.
Have a very good knowledge of the catalogues Auzou and Auzou Canada to build the editorial program for the English Market. This involves reading samples, attending to the editorial presentation (preprogramme + commercial seminars), speak regularly to different collaborators at Auzou (ex : the Responsible of the English Market) to evaluate the opportunities of mutual production.
Create and feed the internal database and provide the metadata for Bookmanager.
2 ) Commercial coordination with Sales and Marketing
Take a proactive part to regular meeting with the operation manager and the sales manager.
- Consolidate and optimize the editorial program, all year long.
- Draft the sales pitch and animate the commercial presentations.
- Support the commercial team on the field and meet the various buyers.
- Be proactive with the marketing team to support, for instance, their communication campaigns.
3) Produce the titles
Coordinate the translation, the content adaptation or the creation of 80 to 100 productions a year, within the Planning, Quality and Budget expected.
- Supervise the production team, composed by internal and external resources: graphic team, quality, printing (fabricant), marketing, logistics, jurists, translators, proof reading, freelance workers, etc....
- Make and manage a schedule for each production in collaboration with external and internal resources.
- Amend the contracts and send them to the authors and illustrators of the original works.
- Administrate and optimize the budgets for each project and for the global activity.
- Supervise the production team (translators, specialists, proofreaders).
Your skills:
Experience required: at least 5 years of professional experience in the publishing business (coordination or management of editorial projects)
- Fluent or bilingual in both English and French
- Strong knowledge of editorial processes and the Canadian book market
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and on a great variety of projects
- Work efficiency and ability to manage a team
- Perfect computer skills (Adobe, Office – InDesign/Photoshop: assets)
- Great rigor to ensure a “0 mistake” production
