This job provides a great opportunity to help consumers connect with and celebrate the special people and relationships in their lives through the use of Hallmark greeting cards and specialty product.

As our Sr. French Editorial Writer, you will create relevant, high quality original and revamped French editorial for Hallmark greeting cards and specialty product that meets our overall business and product strategies. Your superior understanding of the Quebec social and cultural environments will allow you to create relevant editorial that speaks to the French customer, and helps her to connect with those she loves. You will define and maintain our French editorial line balance, and will collaborate with your colleagues throughout the planning and design processes.

Basic Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in French Literature, Translation or Journalism
• Must be bilingual, with strong abilities in both official languages
• At least 4 years of experience in an environment where a high level of French creative writing skills were required, such as in a writing, journalism or publishing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent creative writing skills to translate feelings into words
• Excellent working knowledge of English and French languages, and a solid understanding of writing elements as they apply to Hallmark product
• Strong understanding of French Canadian culture, idiomatic expressions and legal standards.
• Understanding of design, marketplace and social trends
• Proven superior ability to develop original ideas and innovative solutions, and to incorporate product partners’ comments and consumer/creative research into successful, fresh copy solutions
• Ability to fully understand the priorities, timelines and desired outcomes and act proactively to ensure goals are met
